my philosophy:
YOUR STORY IS THE FOCUS
The quiet touches, the stolen glances, the way you are together – these are the moments that matter. When you look back at your photos, I don’t want you to just see the Dolomites. I want you to feel everything again – the rush of the wind, the warmth of their hand in yours, the way your heart raced when they pulled you closer. While so many others focus on grand landscapes, I focus on you. The raw, unfiltered, in-between moments that make your love story yours. The backdrop is still just that – a backdrop. Your connection is the masterpiece.
There are plenty of stunning Dolomites spots to choose from. Among my favourites there are the iconic three peaks of Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) in South Tyrol, Alpe di Suisi (the largest Alpine meadow in Europe), the Sassalungo Peaks, Cinque Torri, Gardena, Giau and Sella Passes. On top of these, some of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Lago di Braies, Lago di Carezza, Lago di San Pellegrino, Antorno Lake and so many more. The picturesque peak of Seceda with its flower fields all around is an option too.
This is just a short list of some of the most iconic photography areas in the Dolomites. If this already makes you feel like you are there it means we have to meet and experience this adventure together! Let me help you plan everything – as a local expert I’ll guide you through what’s possible within the period that you’re looking at and what’s not. I’ll give you all the insights and suggestions on what might be the best option.
If you’re dreaming of a cinematic mountain backdrop right at the foot of Nuvolau and del’Averau peaks, Passo Giau is the place. With rolling hills leading up to jagged rock formations and Ra Gusela pond, it’s one of the most scenic passes in the Dolomites. The ever-changing light here is something special – one moment, golden-hour glow; the next, moody clouds wrapping around the peaks or a thunderstorm rolling in. A perfect spot for an intimate, windswept session that feels raw, real, and utterly breathtaking.
These three towering rock formations are the definition of epic. The hike to Tre Cime di Lavaredo is absolutely worth it for the jaw-dropping views – whether you’re walking along the trail or standing on the edge of a dramatic ridgeline overlooking Cadini di Misurina. If you want an adventurous session in the Dolomites with that wild, untamed beauty, this is the spot. Best shot at sunrise or sunset when the light paints the peaks in stunning pinks and oranges.
Tucked between massive peaks, Landro Lake is one of the quieter lakes in the Dolomites – perfect for couples who want a peaceful session by an Alpine lake. On a calm morning, the still water reflects the surrounding mountains like a mirror, creating a surreal atmosphere. It’s easy to access, making it a great spot for an effortless yet stunning shoot.
Nestled between massive rock formations, Passo Sella feels like stepping into another world. Here, the rugged landscape of the Dolomites unfolds in every direction, making it an unreal location for an intimate photo session. Whether you want to hike a little for those dramatic, high-altitude shots or simply embrace the epic scenery right from the meadows, Sella Pass is a must for couples who crave adventure or love the romance of flower dotted fields in the Spring.
Lago di Braies (also known as Pragser Wildsee) is easily one of the most recognizable spots in the Dolomites, with its emerald-green waters and dramatic mountain backdrop. The best time for your shoot here? Early morning, before the crowds arrive. No matter what you see online – the lake sees thousands of visitors each single day. The good news is – you can rent one of the charming wooden boats just after sunrise and have the entire lake to yourself for an hour and a half – picture yourselves gliding across the still lake, wrapped in the golden light of dawn and a morning mist. A dreamy, intimate setting for your elopement or surprise engagement photos that feel straight out of a fairytale.
As an experienced Lago di Braies photographer, I know that the wooden hut with private access to the lake is only available between late May and October, with just one slot per day – it costs as little as €450 and it sells out fast! Planning ahead is key to securing this exclusive experience for your shoot. Naturally – you have to bring your own photographer :)
Are you late and all the slots are already sold out? No worries, we can still use the area around the lake and hire a boat as soon as the rental opens to public later in the morning. I don’t recommend this option for a surprise marriage proposal, however it will work just fine for any other shoot!
Winding through towering peaks, Gardena Pass offers some of the most epic mountain views in the Dolomites. The road itself is a dream, with hairpin turns revealing jagged cliffs and rolling green valleys. Breathtaking panoramic backdrops – perfect for a wind-in-your-hair, adventurous mountain session. Whether it’s sunrise, sunset, or a moody, misty day, Gardena Pass delivers pure Dolomites magic.
You’ve probably seen this location all over Instagram – the knife-edge ridge with insane views of the mountains. While the views are undeniably breathtaking, this very Insta spot is also seriously dangerous. The narrow trail to the viewpoint has steep drop-offs, while the spot itself is just a fragile cliff that has significantly eroded after some of the recent years’ rainstorms. Safety is key – there’s other places with the exact same view in the area.
Please tell me what area in the Dolomites you’ll be traveling to, what kind of shoot you’re interested in and what is your dream vision. I’ll help you make these dreams become reality!
